Online Safety

Burghfield St Mary’s Primary School takes online safety very seriously and we have restrictions and firewalls in place to protect our pupils as best we can in school.

We use the National Online Safety lessons to teach our children the importance of online safety during ICT lessons. Based on the eight key topics outlined in the UKCIS ‘Education for a Connected World’ framework, the KS1 and KS2 lessons talk to the children about online dangers in a fun and engaging way.
Topics covered:
  • Self-image and identity
  • Online relationships
  • Online reputation
  • Online bullying
  • Managing online information
  • Health, wellbeing and lifestyle
  • Privacy and security
  • Copyright and ownership
  • Contact

However, most children’s time online is spent at home and so we have compiled some advice on how to keep your children safe online.
